My thought was: navy blue background and make all of the small squares solid red. Then use the small plaid squares as the basis for another baby quilt.

I would move the two large nine patches to the center instead of the sides. I agree with trying the dark green as a background.

I really like the blocks with the 4 HST on a diagonal. I prefer the ones that accentuate the black/red instead of the white. I am surprised about how much I like the 9 patch in the corner. It is very, very busy, but it works! The one block I am having trouble with is the upper corner mixing of the med. patch with the 5 smaller ones. My eye is getting distracted by it. I agree that the red helps the blocks pop. If you aren't happy with that much red, add a larger black border on the edge and it should calm the red down a bit. No matter what, it is a quilt that just makes you want to wrap yourself up in it!

I never would have thought of doing this pattern with plaids but I totally love what you have come up with. So many options for fun arrangements! 4PP is one of my favorite patterns to play with anyway!

Here's another arrangement. I think I would use white flannel in the background for this. What do y'all think?
    Thanks!

I like the red as the blue seems off too me. I love how you did the plaids!
