Purple was my first choice. Glad you decided on it. I thought a medium gray would be a close second. Can't wait to see how it looks finished!

When I zoomed in, I saw that the background is all shades of grays, not blues like I thought. How about a medium gray. I think the black is too stark and the yellow too boring. Very nice job on the blocks. You are almost done!

Love your blocks. For colour sashing was going to say I prefer darker to the light colour. I would try green or purple. Now I have a completely different idea, white. Good luck in deciding.

I'm glad you went with purple... hopefully you'll post a photo when you've got it finished.

I like the yellow if your goal is to blend. It is lovely. However, if your goal is to contrast I would choose dark blue (mu computer says your background is blue). If it is in the purple family perhaps the borders could be purple. The black is quite start and dividing.

The black seems too harsh, but the yellow just is not enough. I would like to see how the orange would look.

Tom, your blocks are beautiful and your willingness to listen to so many opinions is really impressive. I really love your choice of purple, because it both picks up the lighter purples in many of your blocks and complements the gray in the background fabric. I agree with you that it will be far easier to join the already quilted blocks by joining with strips. The size of the strips will obviously turn out to be about half as wide as shown when the seam allowances are used. I am curious also about how you will be dealing with the back of the quilt. Will it also have strips or will you just be turning the edges of each block and whipping them together?
