I FMQ on DSM all the time. Being relaxed and unhurried works best for me. Feed dogs doesn't matter I take pressure off the hopping foot. I use hopping foot as that is what I always use. Guess I am use to it, 150 or so quilts later. I have tried other things but, find my tried and true way works for me.

I just bought the Janome Skyline 7.....has auto pivot, (FOOT UP NEEDLE DOWN), àn applique satin stitch that you can varying the width as you sew with your knee lift. It also comes with software to design your own decorative stitches, it memorizes the number of stitches to piece, then asks if you want to repeat that same piecing length for your next set, the new needle threader is much faster....has the Accufeed foot built in, 9mm decorative stitches( beautiful). Jannomeis having great sales now. I have the 8900 that is wonderful too.
