For both your iron and your longarm? I can potentially see how it could work with the iron, but I'm just not sure about the longarm. I'd hate for my DH to go to the trouble and then have me end up using the wall socket.
Any information or advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a six-foot heavy duty extension cord which I keep plugged in at the ceiling. The machine plug is then very easy to separate from the extension cord when I am done quilting.

I'm not worried about being able to unplug it. It concerns me that it might be in the way hanging down while I'm doing a pantograph at the back of the table.
    Any thoughts on that?

I am envious of all your thread. Not really envious, but it looks beautiful on the wall behind your machine.

Do you have the cord in the ceiling for your iron and longarm?

Hanging the plug strip for my iron sounds like a really good idea. I will have my Husband hang it above the counter top I press on. Seems the iron is always getting hung up on stuff beside the counter top. I turn the plug strip off when I am not in there, I also have a light plugged in with the iron. Then I am sure I turned it off.

I have an extension cord multi plug that is on a retractable reel that hangs from the ceiling. I just reach up and grab it, I can directly plug in to it and leave it up near the ceiling or depending on what I am doing I pull it down to have more reach. When I am done I always up plug and just let it retract so its not in my way. I love it.

A friend who's DH was an electrician has all her plugs for iron, sewing machines at cabinet level--no leaning over to unplug--which she does when she's finished working cause we have lots of electrical storms. Her long arm has a floor plug directly under the machine table--so no tripping over regardless of side of machine she's working on. Wish I could do that but since in basement can't. Not sure I'd like it hanging above on long arm--would mean not being able to work from back (which I don't do much anyway, but...)
