Frixion marking pens

Frixion marking pens
Is anyone else had problems with these pins marking. I bought a set and only one or two will mark and really not that good. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any information.

I know of a few people where the marks came back after ironing and washing so I won't use them to mark on the surface of the quilt. I will use them to mark something that will be hidden in seam allowance.
I did buy a package of frixions once for just general use and they did not write well at all. Not on paper nor fabric. I chalked it up to a bad batch or maybe they were really old like sitting on the store shelf for a long time, not sure. They still write but they don't flow smoothly and they seem to skip so it sounds like you had the same problem. I have used other frixion pens that didn't act that way. So don't assume you are doing anything wrong, they could just be a bad batch of pens.

I have not had any trouble with mine drying out but I did notice in Walmart this week that 2 pens in a package were almost $8.00! Perhaps your pens had been on the shelf too long? I have even left the cap on my blue one off over an hour and thought it would be garbage but I just circled it on paper for a few seconds and it is fine.
p.s. I don't use them on my quilts for marking quilting designs but I love them for small sewing projects.

mine work great all the time and for an unexpectedly long time. You just got an old, dried up set. I wonder if there is a use by date, or mfg date, etc. Try e-mailing the company, I'll bet the mfg date is buried in a number somewhere that they know and you can't read. Either way, they probably will want to know where you bought them (who is not rotating stock) and replace them or give you a coupon to replace them.
