If I didn't have a gazillion UFO's I'd jump right in today, and start one.

Thank you ladies, I'm proud of my very first Hunter Star blocks. I hope to get better as the months go by, especially with my contrast choices. I seem to have more medium colors than dark, I'll make it work.
Wholeheartmom while digging in my stash boxes I realized I have more purples and blues than any other colors. I have one special bucket of fabrics I've been hoarding for my civil war quilt.....lol no purples there. Haven't decided if I'll use any of those.
    Have a lovely weekend ladies.

    Good morning, group!

I'm in the process of swapping out the blocks. This is where I have to do some Quality Control ((my least favorite part)) which brings me to a question:

How 'off' is okay? Is 1/4" off too much?

I'm the first to say I'm not perfect by any stretch. Some of the blocks I've made for this swap were not 'swap worthy' - too big, too small, just couldn't square up without losing points/seam allowance, etc. - so I'm keeping them for myself and will use them in my quilt.

I need to know from the group what's acceptable and what's not.

I'm so sorry I missed this swap. Will be looking to see if you do this next month. I sure would be in. Nice block. Cool quilt.

Jane, do you mean blocks that are 8 1/4" in one direction (or two)? Or the "matching" of the seams that create the design are off 1/4"? Or either/both? If the block is at least 8 1/4" square I can make it work, but this should be the max variation on block size, in my opinion (of course we should all strive to be 8 1/2" and hopefully the 8 1/4" blocks are few...like you I try to do my own QC before sending and set aside any with significant variations from specifications). Minor variations in matching seams happen to all of us, but if the match is off 1/4" it will be really noticeable. Just my two cents.

I'm talking about the size of the block. I'm seeing several blocks that measure 8 1/4", some in one direction and some both. I'm impressed with the matched seams! That part is great. Of course minor variations happen to all of us, myself included.

Would some swappers be upset to receive blocks that measure 8 1/4"?? Need to hear from others please.

I think I'd like to jump in for September since I'm too late for August. I'm trying to really use up the stash and this will be a great use for it. I don't have a large stash. But, I see I have a tendency for continually buying the same stuff. So, hoping to use up what I have. That way, when I make some more room I can buy some different stuff. Or, trying to reduce my fabric foot print in my house. lol (Or, at least by a little.) This block looks like so much fun. I love using triangles in quilt. And the photo posted is a really great scrappy. Love it!!!

If my opinion counts, I'm okay for close. I can fudge a little. As long as the block is not too far off in either direction.
