Oops! I knew I should have gone back and verified it was the same block. Oh well, it's a great block and a lovely quilt no matter what the block is called.

ohh- love all the pictures!
I've got all the blocks put together. I think this is the layout I'm going with. The nine patch are placed randomly, and I'm not going to worry about them.
My design wall is a pad hung over a projector screen. It's too floppy for things to stick, so I have to pin everything. Still works much better than what I did before - lay it all out on the bed.
I was going to make it square, but I like this better - 50" x 65". I'm considering a border, but not sure if I want to deal with any more little pieces.

That is a KNOCKOUT, Cathy! Just amazing. It needs to go in a quilt show. I totally understand that feeling of being done with all the small pieces, but if you think it needs a border I'd suggest you take a break and then finish it up the way it deserves. If you think it needs a border, don't skip it! Just my opinion.
Lol, I'm still laying out everything on the bed!

My goodness, Macybaby, that's wonderful!!
Really, I'm loving all the pics!
So, I got a little done last night, and some done today on my LA challenge quilt. There are three blocks that repeat around a center block, with different colorways on each block.
I had made the joke with my group that I was going to "dress up like Judi Madsen" since I started this on Halloween, and "maybe I'll be able to quilt like Judi".
I'm over halfway done... so maybe with a little more time tonight, and some time tomorrow, this will be ready for my LA guild meeting next Saturday. I don't have a robot system, this is all done either FMQ or with rulers. I picked out the blocks from "501 Rotary Cut Blocks" by Judy Hopkins.
My LA only has an 18" throat, so I had to roll it half-way through doing the center block. The finished quilt will be about 42" square.

Than you very much, Sewbizgirl! I still have a LONG way to go to get where I want to be.
If you have a longarm, my two absolute favorite teachers are Judi Madsen and Lisa Calle. Both of them have iQuilt classes that are wonderful. And while I have only taken "virtual" classes with them, they are both lovely ladies, so friendly and helpful!!
I have two of Lisa's DVD's, and several of her Pro-Line rulers; I have Judi's first book, and her DVD of the iQuilt class, and I am waiting anxiously for her second book, due out any day now.
Three things that I have learned...
one - when you're doing fill work (pebbles, micro-stipples, etc), take your machine OFF of the stitch regulator. Learn to get comfortable with using the manual setting on your machine.
two - double-batting and VERY fine weight thread create AMAZING results
three - practice, practice, PRACTICE!!
I've never had an "in person" class in quilting - not piecing, not longarm, nothing. I even set my longarm up all by myself (I bought it online from Sewing Machines Plus - clear across the country!!)

I have a Viking Mega Quilter 18x8 - same thing as a Tin Lizzie - on a wooden frame.
I'm just one of those weird people who not only read directions that come with a toy/tool/appliance/whatever, I can UNDERSTAND the directions!!
I had a boss once who thought I must be an alien, as I can read most anything technical and understand it. (In my "real" job, I'm a computer person)
