I use wrap n zap. Bought this at JoAnne's. Have had no problems - the longest I've used them in the microwave is 3 minutes. So much easier getting hot bowls out of the microwave.

That's what I think...they are to be used to hold them as a bowl (pot) holder type of thing and not something to microwave the bowl in.

If you have put soup in them, the soup has fat content. that may not be noticeable when the next person goes to use it.

you could use them to carry the bowl when it comes out of the microwave.
I so agree with you. I will not set up someone else's home, possibly children, for a disaster.

There is a product called Wrap N Zap. A google search turned up this item at Walmart. I have also purchased this at Joann's. I have used it and it seems to work well.

The thing is, if a person is given a holder made of wrap n zap, they may assume other holders are safe also. We can't be responsible for everyone's assumptions, but it does create a quandary. Like assuming all kids' toys are non-poisonous.

I also thought W & N was 100% cotton till someone mentioned it. They do offer something called Warm Tatter made just for these bowls so bought a couple packs of them for when I finally get around to making them. Sure could use them right now as I make a lot of soup during the winter months and heat it up in the microwave.

These are not meant to go in the microwave, but to drop the bowl in AFTER its warned to protect the person holding it.

Sewing friend also found that the fabric should be washed first as there can be sizing that will scorch.
