Basil rathbone!.......still love watching those oldies when on....Benedict cumberbach is an interesting take on Sherlock.....but, having read - a long time ago - the complete works of Sherlock Holmes by sir Arthur canon Doyle, basil is the closest to the character.....

speaking of....anyone remember Charlie Chan old b/w movies? I don't think they would pass the politically correct standards of today.......

Definitely remember Rathbone - he was wonderful and really looked the part!
Loved Charlie Chan. It was hard to get the movies but I did get every one of the books and read them all. And no, they would not pass the pc standards of today but it is interesting to see how we have grown as a society.

Johnny Lee Miller (Sherlock) had his head shaved in the Elementary show due to the fact that he needed his head shaved for a movie he was making called T2 Trainspotting. They put that in the script of Elementary then.

I too thought bald was not a good look for Miller. I almost freaked out some time back when I discovered he had been married to Angelina Jolie -- though that is not relevant to anything, I just had to throw it in.

I really like the show too but have a terrible time sometimes understanding him; have to turn the sound up higher than with any other program. Not sure what the issue is.

you are not the only one! I read on one of my tv forums that many have this problem. Most of us solved it by turning on closed captions. With my hearing loss just louder doesn't work for me.

I always have cc on because of hearing loss. DH says that he also finds it difficult to understand Miller's speech.

I am having the same trouble with Elementary. Have to turn the volume all the way up. I haven't liked the series since the addition of Shinwell. I also like Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock. And I love anything Benedict Cumberbach stars in. Can't wait to see Dr. Strange.

I thought it was just us! We always have to turn the sound way up when watching Elementary! I love tha interaction between Sherlock and Watson on this one, Lucy Lu and Johnny Lee Miller do a great job on this show.
