[QUOTE=petthefabric;7828175]The guild show is behind me. Have a group project-quick. Then a commission quilting. Deadlines keep me focussed. THEN, CLEAN UP THAT ROOM. Everything has a place, but the "place" is empty. And in the mess, I know where some things are. Still have a little work space-good to go. ]

Your work space sounds like mine right about now. I finished my outdoor organizing project YAY! Now I need to get back to my studio and figure out what things to put in those drawers that I freed up after last month's purge. For some reason I have a hard time deciding what needs to stay out all the time, and what can be put away. It's like I'm worried that if I put things away I'll forget about them-- that out-of-sight-out-of-mind thing. Anyone else have that problem?????

Oh, for goodness sakes, I gathered up some things to put in those drawers, only to find that I already put stuff in them and dated them so anything still in them after one year should be donated.....Um....so now I'm trying to remember exactly how this other stuff ended up laying all over every horizontal surface in my studio-- and where to put it since I'm now back to moving piles around to free up work space....

rrdyer: If I donated everything I hadn't touched in a year, I'd only need a sewing space the size of a closet instead of the two rooms I have now! ROFL.

LOL-- I know what you mean Redstilettos, the use by or get rid of it date was my small baby step attempt to tame my inner hoarder......My studio space(s) takes up one entire room, half of the guest room, part of my office and part of the garage (since DH won't allow me to keep my oxyacetylene torch in our 100 year old wood framed house)--so I'm right there with you on the stuff quotient... It doesn't help that I am an apparently incurable alley shopper--I just can't seem to pass by those useful items that people put in the trash......

Rob I am with you my friend! I love what the younger kids are now calling "repurposing". Sheesh...I've been doing that for years. Growing up with next to nothing taught me to not get rid of things for the 'just in case' scenario. Some people must have more money than brains.
Unfortuantely, I'm not one of them!

Today, I am going to put away all the crumbs that I have out. Also my featherweight which is what I use for sewing my crumbs into larger pieces for scrappies. I had pulled them all out when I wanted to do some mindless sewing, then got busy with two UFOs and have been moving the featherweight and crumbs from one horizontal surface to another. My two UFOs are sandwiched and one is partially ditched, so I really won't be needing a mindless sewing project for at least the rest of this week.

I haven't sewed or quilted for a month, we remodeled our hallway (2 layers of panelling removed, textured and painted) and our bedroom ( 1 layer of panelling removed, textured and painted), another bedroom painted. New carpet will be installed tomorrow. Will give it a week to put everything back in including my longarm then watch out! Might not come out for a while! Lol

This past weekend I went through...."The Box". You know what one I'm talking about. The one where you really want to, or should keep it, or have to, or whatnot....but after a while it gets out of control and you don't know what is even in there any longer.

I sat down with my accuquilt cutter and made 2.5" squares, 5" squares, 2.5" strips, and 1.5" strips. The rest that were odd sizes or too small I either threw out or placed in clear jars for string quilts. Not sure I will ever DO a string quilt, but if I do they are there. I can always give away if I get too much. The rest went into clear boxes of the same shape/size.

It felt SO good to get rid of "that" box!

I wish I had the money to get an accuquilt cutter, I would have so much fun with "that" box. Oh well, maybe someday.
