What type of fusing is used? I'd be interested to know how it turns out.

It was Steam a Seam Lite and it didn't turn out at all. My machine refused to FMQ it at all, no matter how many changes I made. Very disappointing, as if the instructions hadn't of told me to do it that way, I would have just stitched the applique down the regular way before sandwiching the quilt, but by the time I fussed with it trying to get it to work, it was pretty hopeless to start over.

I think it may have had to do with the batting I was using, as I have used polyester craft batting before with this method and not had a problem while this time I was using an 80/20.

I just finished LA a quilt (being bound by someone else so no pictures yet) that had appliqued flowers on the top--we (guild project) used fusible (misty fuse and french fuse both as we went through a lot!) to turn under the edges and with the Misty Fuse, attach to the quilt. With the ones that did not have a double sided fusing, I simply used a dap of washable glue stick to attach to the quilt. Then all the machine applique was done on the long arm--very time consuming but worked fine. Check out Kris Viera's website--she's won awards on a couple of quilts that are all fused as pieces using glue.

This lovely lady was the speaker at our Guild meeting this morning. Now I feel like a total under achiever. Her quilts are beyond beautiful. I'm going to get her book and some of the fusible and see if I can create something beautiful.

I would guess that all folded edges (not raw edges) would be appliqued to the piece below it. Very interesting and hope this thread will eventually reveal the mystery!!
