    Default Glue on Iron

I accidentally turned a piece to be fused the wrong way and my iron now has a spot (about the size of a quarter) on its surface. I wanted to keep working, so I used it with paper between for the next thing and when it cooled, it seemed as though there was less glue. I wonder if using paper in between for the next few pieces will help it go away.

Have you ever gotten Pellon Wonder Under 805 on your iron, and what did you do?

I don't know if this work - but I don't think it would hurt to try -

Heat your iron to whatever the fusible says - then iron on brown paper bags until most of the gook is gone.

Or use something like goo-gone on it.

When I melted carpet on to my iron, I ironed it on brown grocery bags to get most of the gunk off, then used some Shaklee Scour-Off, and then wiped it with a damp cloth, and then ironed on paper some more.

My iron has the shiny metal bottom - so I don't know if that would work on a Teflon bottomed iron.

You could also try something like goo-gone.

I did the same thing and gummed up the entire surface of my iron. I used a Magic Eraser (Mr. Clean?) and it did the trick in no time.

Try ironing on wax paper. It helps remove gunk.

Using a dryer sheet, heat iron and press down hard on the dryer sheet--removes the glue every time ! This is only method I use.

I also did that. I ironed as much off as I could, as my sole plate is shiney, I used a brillo pad on it is as good as new.

similar problem but with a teflon sole plate--I've tried the stuff from Dritz to use on a hot iron and it got most but not all off--other ideas?

When I did this, I let the iron cool and then scraped it off with a credit card. I did go over a rough paper towel in case I missed any glue, but the credit card got it all.
