Default Silk Thread

I am using silk thread to do appliqué in a border of a quilt. I seem to use a lot of time rethreading the needle because the silk thread is so fine and it slips out of the eye. Any suggestions on keeping the needle threaded?

never knew that one, great idea, i'll be doing applique soon, so that's a big help.

this is the way i was taught to sew with silk thread ... it is very helpful

Thanks for that link. I couldn't remember how to do that the last time I was appliqueing with my silk thread.
