Default Any craft ideas using chenille??

Our quilting storeroom at church has become home to a large amount of chenille. Do you have any ideas for simple craft items that would sell at the mission bazaar? The only thing I can think of is backing a baby blanket, but it seems like there is a reason not to use chenille for babies. If it's that they might pick at it, I'm not sure I would worry. My children survived chenille bedspreads quite well. Most of the chenille is closely cut, kind of ribbed looking, not the long, heavily textured patterns. Some yellow, some white.

I have the cutest scotty dog that a friend made me of chenille. I've not worked with it myself but I've also seen it used in pillows.
Everybody I know had a chenille bedspread growing up and we all survived

PS. This reminds me of a Bill Maher observation- "kids nowadays need a helmet to take out the trash" lol

I'd use it for backing a blanket, or making nice size stuffed animals-like a rabbit or bear.

Type in "vintage chenille pincushions" and there are some really pretty ones shown.

A friend used an old bedspread and made one of the older style teddy bears (like a Steiff) so cute! But it was jointed and too much work for a craft fair sale.

Some years back I made a darling quilt for a 5 yr old with quite a few of the blocks in pastel shades of chenille. It was really the cutest thing.

It would make nice civers for the microwave rice heating pads. It might work for bibs and burp pads.

There are some beautiful quilts made from old chenille spreads on Pintress.

I think the way to use the most would be to purchase some cute flannel and make blankets. I'm not a fan of birthing a quilt, but in this case, it might work. When the stack is down, we can make smaller items.
