Default Bernina 347

ISO of a foot control for a Bernina 347. The old one just went all to pieces. A new one cost too much. Can I adapt any other foot control to that machine? Any help?

Thanks

I think you may have the model number wrong. On the older machines (40+ years old), we can wire a different foot control onto the cord. The one we use at the shop is #072963 FOOT CONTROL Singer 1116 2662 with 771 cord. We usually charge $40 for the foot and installation. If the cord is worn out, we can hard wire a new cord, directly into the motor.

I have about 100 foot controls with the business I bought. Can you post a pic of what the old one looked like?

Default 930 Record

You are correct got the Model number crossed up. It is a Record 930. The wiring is good the foot pedal broke. Being a two wire pedal I would thing I could adapt a different pedal.

Where the foot control has a circuit board, you may not be able to wire a basic electronic foot control onto the cord. Some of the parts are still available from Bernina, but not the whole foot control. If the plastic housing parts are broken, I'd bet that your local Bernina dealer has a few spare parts in the bone yard that he/she would sell. The register plate (little circuit board) is part #004346.50.00 and retails for $31.00. The cabon tracer pins are part #32355.03.1+ and retails for 3.50 each.

Has anyone here replaced a circuit board foot control with an electronic one?

Like Annette mentions, for the 930 electronic you have to repair the old controller or get a model compatible one. I think you might be able to track one down with a bit of search. If I remember correctly the 930 has some functions in the pedal that works with the circuit board on the machine.

The 930 is a gem of a machine, extra strong motor, a few stretchy stitches and is a dream to work on. This is a model worth spending a bit of time and money to get going again. I think some clever guys have found a way about the circuit boards, the by pass them some how and can use a generic pedal. Some of the funcitons are lost though. It's a bit of a rogue repair, but for some it has worked. I have to say I would do my best to get it right with this one.

Mickey2 is right. The 930 foot control will advance the needle up or down half a stitch, when you rock back with the heel. I have a 930 at home, and it is a treasure to me.

What is the part number on the bottom of your foot control ? Is it Type 347 or 366 ?
