I've come up with a method that does not require any measuring and does not even need me to leave my machine while doing it. Did not watch the video to see if it was done the same. There are so many tools and measuring that make it so much more work than it needs to be. When I started making quilts in 2014, I bought the binding tool, but after reading the instructions decided it was way too complicated.
I'd done upholestery years ago, and put many yards of cording that needed to be attached where it came together, and it's about the same thing with putting on folded binding, just no cord in the middle.

Julie Cefalu has a terrific video on binding and finishing it. Works even better than Jenny’s at MSQC, and I used her method until I found Julie’s. Just do a search on the internet with You Tube with Julie Cefalu, binding and it should come up.

I've started using this technique to join the ends of my binding with great success. It seems simplier than other methods that I've seen. The part about joining ends starts at about 14:23 and goes to 22:38.

MSQC has an excellent video on the tool. Whenever Jenny does something, it is so easy to follow!

That's what I do, just a smidge shorter than exact.

Fantastic video, thank you Paper Princess for posting it. Now I might actually be able to do this step much easier and more accurate then before.

The only thing I use my binding tool for is the Jenny Doan's binding star quilt.

Nancy Ziemans method is tucking one side into the pocket of the other both cut at an angle to reduce bulk. No meauring, seaming. Just shove the left tail into the pocket of the right tail.
