I absolutely hate it when machines like this go on the dumpster. We know they were made in huge numbers, but it's many years ago now and most of them are gone. We should make an effort for them to reach new homes, there are always someone out there looking for one. Some still know the advantages and techniques with a treadle. I have to admit I sew on an old straight stitcher, but I am relying on motor and lights and have only test sewed a few treadles and hand cranks.

That was a lovely find. So glad your brother was alert to the situation. I have one in the exact same treadle base with lotus decals, also with the back clamp presser bar, and the number was allotted in 1922. I didn't pay a fortune for it, but it's not in as pristine condition as yours, and the cabinet, which was beautifully refinished not too many years before I got it, has a water ring from a plant.

The lady who originally owned this is probably looking down from heaven and is very happy someone rescued this.
It probably has a lot of great history.
