Shelf liner or not?

I used shelf liner but not the real sticky stuff. I don't know what kind I use but it has just a bit of sticky on it and it stays put. I like it to wipe down the surfaces of my cabinets.

I painted mine with enamel paint, washes off easily.

Me, too. It's much easier to clean than bare shelves. It does tend to bunch up a bit if people push things back rather than lifting and setting them down. You can help prevent this by putting thumbtacks in the corners.

How about area above the cupboards ? It gets greasy up there as it’s not cleaned as often, at least in this house. I bought cheap linoleum and with DH helping, we cut pieces to fit. Makes wipe up easy. I know someone who lays newspapers up there. They don’t show from below and when cleaning it’s no problem to change the paper.

I lined all the shelves in the kitchen and bathrooms with the solid ribbed vinyl from Ikea. It is inexpensive and easily cuts to fit and stays in place.
