    Default Unusual Bean Recipes Please?

All of the dried beans are coming on in the garden and I love that. However, I get tired of all of the same old recipes for cooking beans. have you got any good, unusual recipes to share?

If you are like me, you prefer tried & true recipes. I don't have any bean recipes but my "go to" recipe hunt is always on Allrecipes.com so I did a little search on bean recipes & this is what they show:

    https://www.allrecipes.com/recipes/1...eans-and-peas/

When I make a recipe from this site I always read the reviews first & have never made a recipe with less than a 4 star one.

Look in vegetarian cookbooks for some great recipes. You will see the gamut from main dish to appetizer, soups, casseroles; Mexican to Chinese.

My favorite came from the little book that was in the Rival Crockpot when I bought it. Husband pleasing bean-pot. It uses canned beans but you could figure out how to sub. There is never any left at a pot luck.

Someone else who knows this one, can offer corrections, I'm trying to do it from memory.

    2 strips of bacon cooked
    add one chopped onion
    saute the two above.
    add one pound ground beef
    cook all above until done.

In crock pot: 2 cans white Great Northern beans drained
2 cans pork and beans, not drained
1 can red kidney beans drained
    1 can butter limas drained.

    1/4 cup brown sugar
    3 tlbs ???? white vinegar
    1 cup catsup
    1 teasp??? liquid smoke
    1 teasp ground peper
    2 teasp salt

Cook in crockpot for about 2-4 or more hours. Serve with a spoon and a side of crusty bread..

I sure hope I haven't left anything out. Marcia

I was unable to copy the link, but Google "man pleasing beans recipe" for Battle Axe's recipe.

Chick peas (garbanzo beans) are particularly nutritious. In the summer especially, I like to simply rinse the beans in a strainer under cold water, drain. Add a good amount of very thinly sliced red onion, some mayo, S&P and a little garlic and/or onion powder. Let sit for at least 2-3 hours. A great side. Fast, cheap, and keeps covered in frig for up to a week.

I take any calico bean recipe.
    Example:
A can of northern beans, dark kidney beans, butter beans (rinsed) or any bean of your choice.
A half chopped onion, about a cup of ketchup, little mustard (dry) maybe a little bbq and Bob Evans HOT Zesty Sausage. Don"t forget brown sugar. I put it in a crock pot. Good Luck. Donna It's a family favorite.

Am I the only one who loves cooked white beans with butter, salt and pepper? My godfather used to make that when I was visiting. Great way to tell if the beans are cooked BTW...
