International Postage - USPS

If what you wish to ship is soft, you can put it in a plastic bag and smoosh as much air as possible out of it, then seal the bag--ind of like the vacuum storage bags you see advertised on TV. Therefore it would take up less space. I have never had anything develop a smell in a plastic bag in only a week or two--unless it was damp to begin with.

A note of warning. I just sent a quilt as a gift by UPS from Florida to Canada. I valued it at $50US (under the value but I didn't want the recipient to pay duty). I have done this before and the recipient didn't have to pay duty. This time, the recipient had to pay $35Cdn in duty fees. I called UPS and was told that current policy is that Canada does not charge duty on gifts up to $60Cdn. If I had valued it at $45US I would have been fine but the $50 took the value just over the line with current exchange rates. Expensive lesson learned!
