There are tons of hand-piecing and hand-quilting videos at YouTube, but the master of all IMNSHO is Jinny Beyer. Use the search engine on her site, jinnybeyer.com I love my machines, but there is a theraputic measure for me to hand work that the machines don't provide, not only because of the portability, but the absolute precision as well. Also, it is not necessary to press between steps as needed with most of machine work.

chergram, I too like to visit with other quilters, if I wanted to sit in a cone of silence, I'd be on google rather than the quiltingboard.
That said, there have been many threads here on both types of stitching/piecing, but I'm lousy at finding threads. Perhaps a thread fairy will list some, and you can just add to the threads and pick up the conversation.

I like to do hand work and always have a WIP going. Right now I am hand appliquing tear drop shaped units to a triangle. The triangles are then machine pieced together. Slow going, I have been working on it off and on for years. The pattern is called hearts and gizzards.

When I started quilting, I had no sewing machine, so my first few quilts were all hand pieced and hand quilted. Through a tip on this board, I came across Jinny Beyer and bought her book "Quiltmaking by Hand" from which I learned so much!
