I was referring to the gib screw. There was nothing in the bobbin part. I wonder if it's something to do with the belt.
    I'm frustrated!

See post #10, above your last one. If it turns by hand (and the motor runs) then it has to be the belt.

I don't know anything about the FW, so my advice may be stupid, but did you lower the feed dogs while cleaning it?

Under no circumstance mess with the belt on the inside of the white FW. It is not replaceable. Do not lubricate or add any product to it at all. The belt is inside the top of the machine, you can't see it anywhere outside.

Are you familiar with The Featherweight Shop? www.singer-featherweight.com Look for "schoolhouse" tab. There is a lot of information there on maintenance and repair that you can do yourself. Manuals are there by model, I think. If you need parts, they carry them and are quick to ship.

peace- Yes, I love The Featherweight Shop.
My son found the problem. I didn't screw the motor back tight enough.
    She's purring away now!!

Onebyone- that's not the belt I was referring to but thanks for the tip! I meant the belt that goes on the hand wheel.

I knew that you weren't referring to that belt but wanted to give you a heads up on the onside belt. I took a FW maint class and that was what was stressed for the white FW. That belt is the soul of the machine.
