Advice, please, about ease when adding borders...
So, I’m adding a pieced border to my quilt top. Width at which section of border is to line up to center pieced area is 1 3/8” too much. Is this too much to ease in if the center area is supposed to be 401/2” but the border section is 41 7/8” ? I’m trying to avoid cutting out sections of sashing which will throw off the visual balance. And I want to get pinning so I can move along with some more progress!

What is the measurement on the centerline of the quilt?
That is quite a lot to be eased in. it would be about 3/4 inch on each side of center. Are the pieced border units stitched at 1/4 inch? You might go back and stitch a wider seam allowance to take up the extra fabric.
Another tip: Stay stitch the edge of quilt, press, and re check measurement. I also stay stitch all border edges too.
Honestly, I would re-work the border so it fits.

I too agree with Rhonda and that is quite a bit to try and ease in. When I make a pieced border I just take in a wider seam allowance which has been said and everything should work out.
