Oh, she's pretty! I have a red eye that I bought for $25.00 that's in about the same condition as yours. I call her Grandma, because both of my grandmothers had one. I bought a beautiful walnut box for it, and put a repro hand crank on it. A few months ago, I was browsing on EBay and came across a genuine Singer hand crank for $65.00, so I grabbed it.

Grandma looks so nice in her jewelry!

Keep lookin'...you're bound to find one.

Ok now I am so green with envy but very happy for you, The Red Eye is what started my love affair with the vintage ladies. Years ago when I first started looking they were a rare find and expensive when you did find them so when I came upon one for 40.00 I thought it was a steal ( she needs so much work) For 10.00 you got a beyond the moon good deal, Any clue where to look for parts?
Seriously Huge Congrats to you.

Very nice find for the monies
Original Hand Cranks are hard to source and often over-priced as a result (same with some knee-bars) in my opinion.
I would be very interested to hear the quality of the after market HC. How do they hold up with regular use???

I use both for my demos and am pleased with the repro ones. They are a bit noisier, and the screws need attention and a bit more oil, but They do well for me. Maybe If I used one for 4 hours at a time I would have a different opinion. I will often have a machine with a HC not mounted, just to show folks how it can be done.

I certainly can't complain for the price. The only problem decal is on the top of the arm, looks as though someone tried to scrub it clean with something water based. I may have to go to the "next level" and tackle the cosmetics on this one and try to apply a new decal. I was thinking anyway about painting a base black and putting a Singer decal on the front, so this will be the motivation.
The serial number on this dates from 1922, and it's a back clamp. I don't know why, but I was under the impression that the back clamp versions stopped much earlier. I have a 1905 66 that's a back clamp and a 1925 66 that's the side clamp.
I need a bigger workbench, as I have room for only one machine at a time, and right now I'm stuck on the Queen treadle I brought home but shouldn't have referenced in another thread; I can't decide how far I want to take it apart to clean it, as in removing the needle and presser foot bars which are very stuck, so the Red Eye is on deck at least and it spins and all the parts are there, so it won't take long.

The one I found saves me from running after this one, which appears to need just a little bit more work:
