In quilting and techniques: Using rulers for ruler quilting, using die cutters for applique or block construction, wool pressing mats

In fabrics: low volume fabrics. designing your own fabric to be printed, digital print fabric, the use of solids .

Patterns: I am not sure as I like them all

I'll add Collage quilting, thread painting, any form of art quilting seem to be trending.

I'm anxious to make a mosaic quilt after seeing the beach scene here.

Geesh...I want to do all of those techniques. The collage quilting looks especially interesting to me. Some of those mosaic quilts look like they're way over my skill and patience level though. (Like a postage stamp quilt on steroids.) I love the facing idea for some types of quilts. I was wondering when we would leave the super saturated colors in favor of a more muted palette, like the, "low volume," combos.

I'll be able to tell you next month more on this one after the Quilted Turtle visits our guild. She brings all the latest tools and techniques with her.

I think using the color grey in any quilt is the going thing. I see it as a background fabric a lot in the latest quilts I have seen

I'm going to add that Japanese print fabrics are also a big item right now.

I'm sick of the pre cut packages. Every Quilt looks like a scrappy. I'd like to find some patterns that use 2 or 3 fabrics for a change.
