    Default Cheese crisps help

I’m trying to make a keto friendly snack for my brother. Cheese crisps. Very simple, melt cheese on parchment paper. But I’d like to put a bit of bacon on top. I don’t see any recipes with this ingredient. Any advice out there would be appreciated. I’d wing it but I’d rather not experiment if someone else has tried this. Good or bad, please advise, thank you.

Sounds good. I guess you could try the bacon on one or two of them just to see.

How about cooking the bacon before you cook the cheese? That way the cheese will crisp with the already crispy bacon on top not adding extra fat to keep it from cooking right.

I agree with Ibex. Cook, or at least par cook the bacon, then chop it up and sprinkle on the cheese. There are lots of keto friendly appetizers and snacks. Think Jalapeno poppers, cocktail sausages, shrimp with sauce..... I'll bet those cheese crisps go over with everyone, not just your brother.

Provolone cheese has a bacon flavor when crisped.
One of my favorite appetizers is salami slices baked with dollop of cream cheese spread on top. Also used pepperoni slices.

I often use real Bacon bits from the salad section to cook with. It doesn't add too much grease but it does add flavor.

It’s been a long time since I used this site. I don’t seem to know how to reply correctly. And the thread can be closed. I don’t know how to do that either. I used some advice and made the crisps today. They came out very good. 1/4 Italian parm. About 3/4 C of finely diced Vermont Sharp Cheddar and 2 cooked strips of bacon finely chopped. All mixed together. I tested 3. in particular that was a smart recommendation. 1 plain, 1 bacon on top after they started melting, 1 with bacon mixed in. So simple to do a test but I don’t think of that. Now the litmus test is tomorrow, my keto brother. He does well on keto and needs to lose about 10 lbs before he has surgery. 🙏🏻 Thank you all! The important point I remembered about this site is…You’re all the Best!
