I've been watching with awe your progress on this project! I was wondering what you were going to do for the backing and you've shown your creativity again.

Hi QuiltMom2 The back is stitched together with a flatlock using 3 threads to keep it flat. My machine is a Janome 1200d professional, it does about 20 different stitches. The 1200d does overlocking- serging and topstitching and can use 5 spools has 5 needle positions and has 7 cut widths, its 3 machines in one

Have finished the intermediate borders, this is quite heavy. The outside trim is going to take some time as it has a square at each end strip to connect it to the center tribal strips ..

This is back, it has an animal skin theme border with an embroidered Zoo insert motive at each end to break up the border. The color is the same as the top in order..

Have finished the triple animal skin border for the front. I was going to just square the corners but thought I would try cutting in 45-degree angles, haven't done them before, quite a challenge to get all the colors to match, not experienced with strip or star-type quilts, never done one. The next job is to quilt the rear panel, this will be done with an African outline about 5 inches in size. I will do this in the 550e with the Acufil ACQ18B kit for quilting I have for my machine. Have used it several times, and it is a little time-consuming but I'm not in the market for a longarm.

Hi Have done half of the back embroidering instead of stippling, this is a redwork map of Africa with tribal fill. Takes a long time as I can only do two at a time, and trying to keep them fairly in line, there are 27 a side and they are 6 x 4 inches each just over 10K stitches each
