I’ve never cut one but I have worked with my husband around the table saw. I think to be sure to use the right blade in the saw. I’m thinking one with finer teeth. Example: you wouldn’t use the same wide teeth blade, as you would to cut two-by-fours.

thats funny. I was going to suggest tin snips. We are a sheet metal family and that tool is as much a staple as a hammer! Did not realize others knew of their existence!!!

My husband just cuts the mat on the table saw for a smooth, straight cut. No tape or anything needed. I repurpose these old mats for use with my Sizzix dye cutter. I substitue the cut mats for the pricey clear plastic Sizzix cutting pads. The mats work great.

Thank You, Everyone ... for your tips and hints in cutting the mats down.
I'm hoping to get it done on a table saw, as I think it how I am most likely to get a good straight, clean cut.
Will offer to buy a special blade if they would like.

My husband used a Forrest 40 tooth Woodworker II blade to cut my cutting mats.
