Hello to everyone. Haven't been on computer for what seems like an eternity.
WMUT - love your Harriets Journey - and the sashing is so special.
Terriamn - I am always amazed on who and where we meet people from the past. But this meet up is extra for both of you. Of course it isn't always pleasant - once someone talked a mile a minute on all I had meant to her - and I couldn't even recall her!! I felt terrible.
We were in the Boston area doing the checkups. DH cancer has not returned and all is well. The continual Retina issues are on hold for another 3 months. We actually found a old fashioned hotel where the rooms are all one level and face out. No noise from overhead or hallways!
Was nice not to cook for 4 days!

Travelinggramma, excellent news about your hubby! What a relief it must be for you both. Glad you enjoyed your respite from cooking.
So I was stood up on my evening walk! lol. The lady simply forgot and had the courage not to make a random excuse. It’s a nice park so I walked solo but it’s always more enjoyable to chat with someone as time and distance pass more quickly. Oh well, another time I guess.
Just ordered up some fusible batting for my quilt blocks. It’s so fast and easy to sandwich the layers and I’ll have enough left over to do another small quilt in the ufo pile.
Tomorrow DH and I are going to a nearby town to sightsee and then go for a bbq lunch. Brisket, here I come!
Have a great day tomorrow.

Well, my friends it has been an adventurous week. I was here on Monday, but missing since then. The reason is that Tuesday evening my city, and my neighborhood specifically, was hit by two tornadoes. The first one was the "biggy" that did the most damage. I am fine and my condo has very minor damage I lost downspouts and some siding. Sadly my tiny neighborhood lost 3 or 4 HUGE oak trees as well as 5 large spruce and pine trees. This natural setting on protected DNA bog is what drew many residents to this area. It is quiet, serene and lovely here. Now, less lovely and many fewer trees on the marsh. Directly across from me is/was a very large swampy forest that is part of a different nature preserve. Most of the forest is gone.Trees are either snapped off at about 15 to 20 feet from the ground and stripped of all branches or tipped over with the root ball laying out in full view. This wooded area is several hundred acres in size, mostly in shambles. It will stay that way. Only what bordered on a four-lane boulevard street will be cleaned up. Trees that are between 75 and 150 years old and lots of 20 -50 year olds are now laying on the side of the road waiting to be hauled away. Sad, so very, very sad. But a reminder of how powerful a tornado can be. We see photos of other communities and just dismiss it. This week it was real.
I got out today and was deeply shocked at what I saw that was less than a 5 minute walk from my home. Buildings demolished or damaged severely and thousands and thousands of trees across the community are gone. I got my power back in just short of 48 hours and internet came back at the same time. Yeah, how very dependent we are on these modern conveniences.
My plan to mail the blocks tomorrow is now "gone with the wind". More likely Monday. I have one final block to make then out the door when all of the roads are open again.
I am so blessed and grateful to be safe and not in the dark any longer.

WMUTeach , I read about those tornadoes and saw info on the national news about it. I cannot imagine the horror and devastation they wrought, despite seeing the pix. I understand there was no loss of life, absolutely incredible. I’m sorry you and your friends and neighbors had to go through that. Next week on the blocks is just fine. No worries. Take care!

Travelinggramma- so happy about the good news concerning hubby's health.
WMU- we had tornado warnings and went to the basement for a bit until it was over. Those sirens could wake the dead!
Nothing really materialized though, just heavy rain. Glad you're okay!
My husband continues to do well. His color is greatly improved, he's off antibiotics and taking a ton of probiotics in many forms. Gardening is making him so happy!

Glad for your hubby's good report, TG! What a blessing.
Log, the froggie quilt looks darling. What a wonderful gift.
SusieQ, glad to hear your hubby is perking up too!
Will be thinking of you and your city, WMUT. Glad you were spared.

So I got myself a beginner friendly telescope about a week or so ago, and have been trying to learn the features on it. What I'd really like to be able to do is take pictures of the moon and the stars. I've got a little blue tooth device that links to my phone so I can take pictures but I don't have to press my phone's camera button. Well, I tried out the telescope tonight, and there was a beautiful crescent moon, but the stupid clouds kept getting in the way, and my finder's scope wasn't aligned right, so my telescope was never finding it. Tomorrow I have to align the finder's scope in the daylight so it's all set to go. I'll get the hang of it. I wish the neighbor's across the streets would turn their lights off though, so there's less light pollution when I'm trying to look up!
