Default After all these years -

A thing I do know - but forget almost every time -

That when I open the oven door, I am going to get a blast of heat -

    Anything that you do?

For me it's the dishwasher - always a face full of steam fogging my glasses, instead of standing aside of the machine.

After cooking on a wood stove for so many years (now electric), I sometimes forget I am cooking something and am easily distracted. With a wood stove, it will go out if you aren't there putting wood in.
I now set a timer when something is simmering on the stove so I don't forget about it completely.

I am trying to learn that the handles (both on lids and the pans) of my new pots and pans are HOT.

I am rather known for thinking "Oh look, that cupboard door <bonk> is open.

Non-kitchen related I pretty much always flick my light switch when the power goes out to find my flashlight...

My first thought when electricity goes out: That's ok. We have fans!

Don't bend over!! I do that.
One of these days I will raise my head and hit the microwave door which i always open and then get something out of the lower cabinet!
hate electric stoves too! too hot and things will boil over. my son cooks on high heat!!! I stir, he doesn't. I walk away because i can't watch!

I tend to be the one that wanders off while cooking.

There seems to be about a two-second interval between enough moisture cooked off the vegetables and a bad scorch!

I like to think that I have most of my marbles and that they are not loose all over the place.

Some days, I am not so sure!

I have a stove with burners on top and below that, an oven on one side and a storage cabinet on the other. I always worry that if I have something cooking on the burner, I'll catch my hair on fire when I bend down to get the strainer out of the cabinet side. I haven't yet...knock on wood.
