I love that rationale. I'm going to adopt it as my own. Thanks.

I usually do my major cleaning in the fall, then the house is ready for the holidays. This year I have to do some spring cleaning - DH died last Aug after a long illness and nothing got done so my house is a wreck.
I do like the one room a month idea.
I do believe in the if it's not dirty don't clean it moto!

Spring cleaning is just an excuse to purge all the junk that accumulates - I am not a saver - so that I can have a garage sale and earn money to buy more fabric.

I do a really good cleaning 2x year. Spring and fall. Walls, closets, everything. Actually have already started cleaning and reorganizing closets, sons room done, stepson's almost done, upstairs hall bath done. Now only 8 more rooms. OMG!!!

We got new windows about 10 yrs. ago--the Pella that tilt into the house. We love them! Such a vast improvement and soooooooo much easier to clean.
A hint: I would clean after that is over with.!

I washed windows once, it rained during the night and I swore I would never wash another window.

When I have one of those days when I can't think of anything to do, I start piddling around the house and that is usually when it is the cleanest or when I am looking for something I cannot find. The really neat thing about intense piddling is I usually find something that I forgot I had. Little rewards are always nice. Piddling is like going shopping and not spending any money. And that deserves a dark chocolate espresso truffle Bar. Lucky Me!
