Wonderful! PP is the way to go if you want sharps points. Congrats on making your own patterns too.

Beautiful and yes, paper piecing is wonderful.
My first paper pieced block was the Hunter's Star.

Hunters Star one of 30 blocks

i remember my first compass star block, it took me around 8 hours to put together. but i loved it. i made a sample blocks quilt with the compass star in the center and other sample blocks around it. great job

Your blocks are incredible. I love the colors. Did you have to "fussy" cut the gold fabric in order for it to turn out the way it did with the curves? It looks like the sun peeking through! Would you consider sharing your instructions for these blocks?
