Sorry but can't this month of May. I did Oct & swapped with Eddie & Mar with laparshall. She got mine & her's is in the mail, so she's going to call me & we'll open them at the same time. We're sharing flowering tips & having lots of fun with that. This is a great way to make new friends. I'm in the Apr DQ Swap, so have to get on that this weekend. Hope everyone has a great time in May.

Chele I think I'll give this a whirl. First Doll quilt swap for me, but not my first doll quilt! I'll give international a try, too.

Doll Quilt Swap #12 -- May 2010
There is no theme for this month. Sender's choice. I am proposing a charity challenge this month, but it's entirely optional. More details on that below.

Here are some links if you want to see some of the beauties that have been created.

DOLL QUILT SWAP GUIDELINES

SIZE: from 12"x12" to 24"x24" or any size or shape in between.

MATERIALS: natural fibers/cotton, wool, linen

EMBELLISHMENTS: if you want to use them, feel free. Beads, rickrack, buttons, doilies, ribbon, lace; anything or nothing at all.

CONSTRUCTION: Pieced, appliqued, wholecloth, or yo-yos; quilted by hand or machine; and bound.

LABEL: It is recommended that you attach a label to the back of your quilt. A label is a nice addition to any handmade quilt. Whether or not you decide to label your quilt, please do include a note with your quilt with your quilting board name, real name and contact information (snail mail address and/or email address, etc. so that they can thank you). And I probably don't have to say this, but when you receive something, please thank the sender.

PARTNERS: You will be paired with a partner for this swap. You will make a quilt for your partner and your partner makes one for you.

DUE DATE: The deadline for all quilts to be sent is May 31, 2010.

COMMUNICATION: If for any reason you cannot meet the deadline or you need to drop out of this swap, please let me know as soon as you know. If you communicate any setbacks with me I can make sure things work out favorably for your partner, no hard feelings.

SIGN UP: Sign up begins today and ends April 30, 2010. I'll assign partners after that date.

If you would like to sign up, you can respond to this thread or PM me. Please let me know if you are willing to send internationally as we have several members outside of the US.

Hi Chele..well, I've had sooo much enjoyment from these little quilts that I have to join in for May....I think I'd like to do the challenge also..but what do you mean by challenge??? and is the 9 x 12 size what we have to do or can it be a little bigger?

Again I send you big hugs for your wonderful kindness to all of us in your untiring effort to make this work for all of us. You are a very special lady...hugs...SG

Chele, I haven't gotten my April doll quilt done yet, but will try to get it done this weekend. I would like to be included in the May doll quilt swap. I could also do international. Thanks again for all of the fun you have given us all. Happy First Birthday Doll Quilt Swap!!! and many more.

Another great turnout for the swap. We have 37 participants so far!

swimer girl, the "challenge" is just me challenging the doll quilt swappers to make a special little quilt for the Alzheimer's cause. It's entirely optional. The quilts for the charity challenge do have to be 9" x 12" or smaller. They are quite strict on that. You can find out more here: http://www.alzquilts.org/rules.html

Quite a few have already volunteered to make quilts to donate!

I hope that clears things up, but don't hesitate to contact me if I can help in any way.

Please sign me up - no international. I've done March and April and really like it; since, being a newbie quilter, I can try out techniques on a small scale.
