Do most of you hand bind or machine bind your binding

I seriously have a problem thinking outside the box sometimes!
Thank you to those that said they machine stitch to the BACK and wrap to the front!
I can't seem to "get" binding just yet, and have flubbed up 2 because they're obviously not done properly (on the corners), and I somehow didn't have enough fabric in spots (even after trimming the batting) to pull completely around and cover the attaching stitch line. When I (machine stitched) the wrapped part, it just got all wonky and looked HORRIBLE in the spots that I had trouble with all the way around, and the binding wasn't even matched up evenly front & back.
Long story even longer...
I'm going to try a wider binding strip (2.5") next time and see how that works out.
(btw, machine stitch both sides (SUCCESSFULLY!) is how I ultimately want binding to happen.

Funny you should ask. I am just now taking a break from my first ever machine binding. I have always sewn the binding on the front then hand stitching the back. I to enjoy this but I just wanted to get this project done so why not try machine. it turned out fine and now I am ready to tackle another UFO.

I always sew bindings by machine, as our Community Service Quilts we donate will be receiving lots of loving and washing. If I were to enter a quilt into a show with hopes of winning, I would hand stitch the back of the binding.

I tried to machine stitch the back but can't ever get it to line up nicely with the front so it's well worth it to me to hand stitch the back. I just stock up on threaded needles, sit in front ot the TV & stitch away. I find it very relaxing.

Same here. For small items like table toppers, it's good hand work to do while riding the bus to & from work. For quilts, it keeps my hands busy while watching tv.
