    I like steam but I never drag my iron over anything. It's: hold iron over fabric, let the steam hover over the fabric, gentle place iron on fabric, lift iron, move to next area to be pressed. I also set my seams first before I open,or press to the dark side, Luke LOL

    I steam. Don't move the iron around on the piece, just set it down on the seam.

    Steam! I really like how quickly it works. I also feel it will help soften the fabric.

    I am starting not to because it does distort. I am also not going from sewing machine to iron back of quilt opened up. I iron the seam as it shows while sewing (not opened flat). It seems to set the thread. Then I open it up and turn it over to front and iron. I have a much cleaner iron line and am happier when I go to sew the next block on.
