Cutting Up Old Rotary Cutting Mats

Thanks for your comments! When we moved from California to Colorado, my large mat was sitting on top of all the other stuff in the back seat and the sun shining through the back window warped my mat. Boy was I steamed! So I've been saving it because one large corner is still good. It just doesn't lay down so I can use that corner with the big warp in it.
Of course, I'M not the one doing the cutting -- my husband will definitely be doing that and it's on the top of his "Honey Do" list!

What do you use to cut them with? I've seen several comments about cutting up old rotary mats and what to do with them, but nobody says what you use to cut with. My old Olfa mat is too tough for scissors, I don't know about using a small saw, and my DH has no ideas.
