I have been using the thin styrofoam boards from Walmart that start as big boards. I cut them to size, then wrap fabric around them. We do not have a comic book store nearby. I would have to go to Houston for one, but I am thinking about ordering some. I will need a lot more of either to wrap all or most of my fabric. I takes time to cut the boards and I could be sewing and finishing a quilt I have started that is on my fleece design wall!

to the ladies putting their fabric, other quilters who know say that the cardboard [regular] has acid in it and will ruin your fabric. Maybe they will be along to tell you.

I got some a while ago and went through them all in an hour. I'll find the ones you mention and continue on. I am really happy with this method the boards are holding up well! I move them in and out of my storage cabinet and they are easy to put back. The cabinet is visible in the guest/sewing room so it looks much nicer to have the fabric set up like books.

Neat Idea. Thank you for sharing... I currently have a four ft wide six foot high shelf full of large bins of fabric sorted by color. That's the best I can do at the moment

I am still wrapping fabric but I love the look of the fabric on the boards. They stand like books...supporting each other on shelves. It is so much easier to see what you have and it doesn't wrinkle as much when it's wrapped instead of piled under something else. (Sounds like I sell the boards, doesn't it? Actually, they are acid free, already cut, and very sturdy. I'm pleased with the result. I only wrap 1/2 yd and up and even then I put two on a board..both visible. Fat quarters are still folded and put in baskets, etc. As I mentioned before, 200 are less than $20 on the Amazon link with no shipping costs. Forgot to mention that I'm also putting the amount of yardage pinned to the end of the fabric so I don't have to unwind it to know how much I have. It takes a little more time but I feel it will be worth it in the long run. I'm using little square Post Its and silver safety pins.

I stopped at the comic book store on my way home from swimming today, and got 100 comic book boards for $15. I spent the afternoon folding and wrapping, and cleared up several shelves! I have so much room now, I have to get more stash! : )

I'm going to have to stop and see if the local comic book store can get some of those for me. Thanks for the advice! I'm about to go on a 9mth maternity leave so that should give me some time to fold everything in my stash.
