I have the Babylock X-scape, which was the earlier version of the Audrey. It is certainly convenient, and has a lot of stitches, needle up/down, etc. I've used it for classes and travelling. I've never noticed the vibrating, but one thing that annoys me about it is that it starts out with three REALLY slow stitches ever time you start stitching. Hopefully, they eliminated that on the newer models. I was actually given mine by Babylock when I ordered a Quest and had to wait because it was backordered.....no extra charge! And, it does not have a left-default needle position.

Could those three slow stitches be the locking stitch that it makes?

Now I am thinking I may want to buy a traveling sewing machine. I have a FW, but want one that does more than just straight stitch sometimes. I am thinking of Brother Project Runway available at local Walmart.... Good price ----comments anyone?

Which machine did you end up getting? Janome Jem ? or the Babylock Audrey ? I am trying to decided between the Janome Jem Platinum 720 and the Janome Jem Platinum 760. Would appreciate hearing from you.

I have had the baby lock Audrey for 3years and love it! It is great for piecing and after buying the walking foot have quilted up to a twin size quilt on it. Only had it in the shop once for routine cleaning and she runs great. I don't have vibration issues but I am not a real fast sewer. Can adjust the needle position easily. I recently bought the much larger Juki 2010 Q so don't use the Audrey as much but sure wouldn't give her up for portability! I think I paid about $300 for the Audrey on sale.

Have the Janome Jem 760. Love it! 12 lbs and 60 decorative stitches. Yes this has the blanket stitches.

I treated myself to a Janome Platinum with some inheritance money. I absolutely adore this little machine. I call it Crackerjack...
