Love your quilt - but had to say, we're practically neighbors! I even belong to the quilt guild in Lebanon. Would love to see you there.

I think I'd like quilted star points (of radiating lines, maybe?) at the north, south, east and west positions around each star, coming from between the pieced points. Then pebbles or some other background around those, with minimal quilting overtop the pieced stars---maybe just stitch in the ditch those.

The pebble idea sounds fab. How about stippling on the background with bright variegated thread?

This is not my quitling, but I used this quilting in a star on a QOV. I like that it is easy, no marking and very pretty. You can use any fill behind. It accents the star with out being too fussy. I love your colors! If this was mine, I would quilt a lighter grey in the blocks and a shade or two lighter than the background everywhere else. I dont' like to match the backing exactly...I cannot SEE it! lolol

I think I would do a background design - I wouldn't do a pebble, as I think that's too dense to be soft and cuddly. And I think a thread that closely matches the background fabric would be best. You have so much going on with those fabulous bright stars, that I think light grey quilt will distract from it. And to be honest, it I were actually quilting this, I would do a spiral out from the center of the star in whatever thread best matched them. A lot of thread changing - yes, but it think it will highlight the stars. If you just outline them and don't do any quilting I them, they will soon look 'flabby' and not pop the way you intend.

I'd do large starbursts like fireworks in an overall pattern to complement the neon colors.
