I made my shower curtain with sheer fabric I bought in Aruba. The colors are stripes of blues and sandy colors that are typically Aruba I used a commerce shower curtain for the inner layer

When I have made shower curtains in the past, I have used home decorating fabric, not quilting fabric. We still used a separate liner. They turned out great and lasted a very long time. As I remember (it's been awhile) I just winged it, no pattern. I made a tie back style with a header and gathered it on a one inch dowel, just like you would do for regular curtains. I have been thinking of making one since we've moved, but haven't gotten to it yet.
