Here's my February block, not sure I'm loving the colors. I may have to redo.

I enlarged the pattern to 109% - closest I could come to get the 6" side and then add the 1/4" for seam. I made one block and since it was way off I decided to stop and figure out the pattern. Haven't made it yet, but hopefully it will come out 12.5".

I like this center arrangement too; it looks more 3 dimensional.

Check your pattern for the 1" scale, mine came out just a fraction smaller than the 1". Maybe that's your problem!

So my question is, how do you get the pattern to be exact "??
As Nickylsf said, you might want to leave a little extra fabric on the outside
edges and only trim up the pieces which will be joined in the center. Then trim up the outside edges after the blocks are sewn together.
On my block I had one piece fall short of the seam allowance, and it really bugged me. I undid part of the seam on either side of the short piece, and added a small piece to lengthen it. It is not noticeable and now I love my block!

will try another block and see if that will work. I came up to 12 so that extra may take care of it. Thank you good idea.
