I had seen topics of row by row but never knew what, [figured it was some kind of round robin thing where someone did a row on a quilt then sent to next person and everyone got their top back with rows by the group-maybe that is one type]. Tonight started reading this post and saw it was different and it looks like it could be fun. What is the license plate part, is it a pattern too? Can you get a pattern only or is it a kit or does the quilt shop have the option of including it in a kit that has to be purchased or would a kit be always optional?
Thanks for filling me in with more details.

My shop sold me just the pattern. I wasn't sure I wanted the kit (and I never ended up making it.)

Starshine .....license plates cost. I have seen pictures with the plates in the boarders one on the backs even made into tote bags. The R by R (Row by Row) kits cost $$$$$. However the R by R patterns are free. I guess they are called R by R because they are horizontal and with the first person to sew 8 together and go to a participating shop one wins a prize. The theme this year is water. If you go to FB, search Row by Row you can read more. Also great discussion evolves about actually going into a shop purchasing only one kit, and all the patterns have copywrites. One shop owner told me it was OK to purchase additional kits however someone here posted that was a violation of the rules which I have not read. I didn't write the rules but if I owned a shop and I could sell more than one kit I would like the sale. So clear as mud right? Oh, each shop has a different pattern..........whew............no I don't own a shop but do support LQS.............questions? Drop me a line.....bye.....calla

I think different shops will mail out the pattern after October.

The shops are allowed to sell the patterns from a date in November, I think.
