We love the small yellow mangoes (mangos?). We pull the peel off (start with a paring knife) then cut off the fruit on each side of the pit. Then eat the rest off the pit. It is just us here so we don't mind gnawing on it. My son is also allergic - like Chasing Hawk

If you are allergic to poison ivy, you may be allergic to mangos. They are in the same plant family and both contain the irritant urushiol Here is an excellent, easy to understand article.

I love papayas. I wait for them to get to what some would say over ripe, where dimples have formed concave into the flesh from the skin. The skin will peel right off, the fruit is super juicy and sweet. Yes, messy, but just need a big plate or bowl to catch it all.

I wish I could eat mangoes, sadly I am allergic to them. Everyone I know says they are really tasty.
