Does she have any idea of what's involved for some of these blocks?

Yes she is the one that got me started  she used to quilt all the time with my grandma and then after my grandma passed she slowed down, then when my dad was in the hospital she would sew all day long while sitting there with him. after he passed she just stopped :-( :( they passed within 3months of eachother

I have been trying to get her back into it but she admitted at thanxgivin that she always thinks of her mom so it is still hard for her to do. I did get her to finish a lap quilt top in a few hours on my machine!! but she will now hand quilt it so it still isn't finished.

She really only quilts by hand but does have a machine. She loves to applique so she could do that since I don't know how! when I first started looking into the DJ here on the board I wanted me and her to make one together, but since she is still undecided and not to motivated I decided to go it alone :? I keep showing her all the things that I am doing and she wants to help me put my x-mas janes together. She doesn't have the internet at home or I could probably get her even more involved. but I am working on it.

I still have to get my software but it may have to wait til after x-mas  so I will be behind from the start. when I get it I may start sending the patterns to her at work so she can print them out just like our dear Klue did for us :-)

Ok that was long, thanx for reading ;-)

I didn't either altho' I've been quilting for many years. DJ is so different from other samplers and such that I've worked on. This, too, is my first try at it. We can all learn together

Isn't it funny how we tend to get freaked out when working on a smaller sized block?

A point or an intersection is exactly the same size at the point or intersection no matter what the size of the block.

I have 10 A-5's ready to sew together. It didn't take too long to do. I'll post a pic later today.

i think most people don't know how complicated this quilt is, even the simple blocks are a challenge due to size.

yes the intersection is the same size but you don't have the same ability to ease blocks that are 5 inches that you do when they are 12.5 inches.
