Done with Insomnia and I found myself reading The Stand-again. Must be the 20th time. It's my favorite book and I always discover something new.

I'm reading The Wilderness Warrior by Douglas Brinkley, a biography of Teddy Roosevelt, who is a personal hero of mine.

Wow, am I in the right place! Quilters AND readers. I just finished The Great Fire by Shirley Hazzard, also the author of The Transit of Venus. Can this lady ever "turn a phrase". I'm new to her work, but have three on order from Abe Books.

A very handsome actor plays him. Montalbano has a bit of humor in them so i like him best. Most take place in Venice. It's rather funny hearing German spoken in the Beck series. they are playing Italians. At least it's something new to watch and read.
I find I'm really liking the Scandinavian authors of detective mysteries. Along with some of the author's you have read, I'm thoroughly enjoying Henning Mankell's "Wallander" series... and, of course, Steig Larson's three starting with The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo". Thanks for other suggestions; I'll pick some of them up.

My daughter loaned me The Hunger Games. I wasn't really interested in it from the synopsis but for me it's one of those books I can't put down. I finished it this morning and will start reading the second book later today. I usually read mysteries, espionage, some romance, and general fiction.

I have a Kindle and I get a lot of free books from the Amazon website. I have about 40 books loaded that I haven't read yet!

I just finished a free one A Kingdom's Choice by J R Tomkin or Tomlin I think. lots of bloody battles I could have done without. I love horses too much to read all those. but all in all, the book was good. James Douglas and Robert De Bruce, etc.

I have been reading another Colleen McCullough book. You might recall that she wrote Thornbirds,
I have read a number of her books and loved "MORGAN'S RUN". This is titled "THE TOUCH" and is as good any other book she has written. She has a way with words and a way of conveying lots of historical knowledge in the settling of our country and other countries as well. I recently checked out her bio on the internet and she is the kind of person I would love to sit and visit with. What a wealth of knowledge about so many things. A fantastic writer.
