Heck we feel earthquakes here all the time!
Did they think he was too close to a tree or what?

Seriously though, I hope everyone is safe.
Just want to clarify that I do hope everyone is safe and sound. Just get tired of the media and how they have to blow everything out of proportion. Its like the boy who cried wolf. You never know when you really need to take it seriously and they create a lot of unnecessary panic.

I'm sitting in my office at work in Statesville, NC, where I-77 and I-85 cross, and didn't feel it! My coworkers did. My husband called from home asking me if I felt it! He said it shook the house, the barn, and the dogs were'nt sure what was going on! Funny how some in my bldg felt it and some didn't!

My sister pinged me from NYC, she heard some rumblings but didn't feel anything...others in the building DID. Some buildings around her got evacuated. It'd be hard to know WHERE would be safest in the metro-NY area, in the high buildings or on the streets? Just glad it was not more damaging!

Ours was 5.9. So far the Norfolk/Hampton Roads area is only reporting minor damage so I hope all of those closer to the epicenter is as lucky. Thank you for your best wishes

Yes, but you have to remember this is like Los Angeles having a blizzard - it just doesn't happen and we don't know what to do when it does. The story is the earthquake, but it's also the reaction of people and organizations TO the earthquake, which is a much larger story and would be the real risk to the President's safety.

At least that's my take. :)
