Hi lovelyl! May I suggest a way of laying out your quilts so that you never have to crawl on the floor again? Purchase 2 ironing boards that will adjust to the exact height. Buy 2 sheets of plywood and cut to a manageable size by trimming top and side of each piece. Cover with vinyl table cloths and tape down on the back of each board. (I use checkered cloths so I can sort of eyeball the backing and keep it straight. Use binder clips to hold down the backing all around and then put your batting and top on top of that and secure with clamps from Home Depot or Lowes. You can walk all around it and reach lots of it without straining. When you have basted all you can reach, unclip and move the rascal closer to one side and reclamp and finish basting. I simply cannot, at my age, get down on the floor, so this is my method for basting a huge top.
