Eagles are scavengers that will gather any place there is easy food to be had.

Around here, they gather in the Carson Valley (just south of Carson City) every year starting in January when calving season is happening in the fields along US395. They feed on the afterbirth, and often many can be seen clustered around it just after a calf is born. Wildlife photographers set up next to the fields to photograph them.

We also see them occasionally here in our little valley. Pretty regal-looking birds.
