When my husband and I were dating, he would always say "But you're worth it" so you can tell him that..see what his reaction is. Six years ago, I purchased a used "Bernina" for one fourth the cost, and I just love it. Some gals trade sewing machines for better features on the machine, not because the machine is so old. My Bernina dealer is only a 45 minute drive from my home, so I have had no problems with my sewing machine that he can't handle. Good luck shopping, it's a big decision, what that will impact you for many years.

Don't forget to shop the internet for good prices. Someone posted to check eBay but Overstock.com has a sale on the 6500 right now and Amazon.com has a better price (by $800.) than my local sewing machine store. Do some major shopping.

you might want to check out the Juki F600 it has all the same bells as the Janome you are looking at for half the price.
i paid $750 for my Juki F600 and i love it - i have 2 Juki machines and have never had a problem with either of them - i've never even had to fuss with the tension on them.

This is all great inspiration and advice - I thank you all!! I will check out overstock and amazon.com. I looked at the Juki machines (seem to be cheaper) but have not heard a lot about them.

So sorry to hear about the demise of your machine. I know they become part of the family. And I don't think you have to convince your hubby that you are worth it, he's kept you around hasn't he? Convincing him that the 6600 is worth it is another story. Just tell him to think how happy you will be and then how happy he will be because you are happy! Good luck.
