Cari, is the crinkle finished one the same model number (221) in the ismacs lists? And does it have the little flap?

Yes and yes. I've seen one in person once. I was in a small repair shop and the owner had a shelf up high behind the counter with one of each of the 221/222s.

I just saw a "wrinkle" or crinkle go for over 2200.00 on ebay!

This may sound heretical after the above 221 love fest, but you may consider a Singer 301 instead. They only weigh a couple pounds more than a FW and have a built-in carry handle. They also have a very pretty straight stitch and can sew very fast if that is what you want. The prices for 301's are not too bad - significantly lower than 221's.

I have two 221's and sewed my first granddaughter dress on the pristine 1954 one my MIL gifted me. The other one, a 1937 w/o a case, controller, and attachments, was an estate sale find at $50. BTW, I found Two FW folding tables at a Habitat ReStore store for $15 and $17 each at the same time. I have four 301's and really prefer sewing on a full size machine vs. a half-size machine. Just my $0.02 worth.

I totally agree with you. I've said it before, I like my FW but I don't love it. I just can't take it seriously. I do however love my 301s. My black one is one of the quietest machines I own.
